No One as Irish as...

Sharing from my aunt's blog...

There's No One as Irish as Barack O'Bama

Great New Song! written by Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys

There's no one as Irish as Barack
O'Leary, O'Reilly, O'Harron O'Hara,
There's no one as Irish as Barack
From the old Blarney Stone to the green hills of Tara
There's no one as Irish as Barack O'Bama

Adventures in House Hunting...

Hi. ahem. Umm, My name's Chris Parker.

I live in Oak Park, that's a suburb.
They probably figured that out. huh

This is Brad, Sarah and Daryl and we're in trouble.
Ain't no doubt!

See me and my boyfriend Mike, tonight's our anniversary.

But then he went and canceled and now I'm stuck watchin' these three.

And it's so hard...
And it's sooo hard...
Babysittin' these guys.
She's got the......

I got this call from Brenda. I went to pick her up.

Tire had a blow out and my mom's car got shot up.

And these guys started to chase us.
And we all got hijacked. huh

We were cruising down the highway,
In this big, ol' Cadillac.
And it's so hard!
YEAH!
It's so hard...
Babysittin' these guys.
She got the.....Babyyyy sittin' blues.
Baby, baby. Babysittin' blues.
I've got the...Babyyyy sitting blues.

Well alright!

There's nights....you swear you were born to lose. Like tonight.
And you wish your feet were walkin' in someone else's shoes.

Some guys are out to get us.
And Brenda's probably dead.

We ain't got a nickle.
And they should be in bed. And you outta luck.
Outtaaa luck, watchin' these guys.
I've got the....Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting bluuues.

There are nights....
You swear you were born to looose...yeah!
Like tonight.
And you wish your feet were walkin' in someone else's shoes.

Some guy's out to get 'em and the girl's probably dead.

She ain't got a nickle...
AND WE SHOULD BE IN BED!!!
And you outta luck.
Outta luck watchin' these guys.
I've got the....Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting blues.
Baby, baby.
Babyyyy sitting bluuues.

Not nearly as exciting as hanging with Elizabeth Shue...but nonetheless

Catching up...

I'll admit to slacking on the updates for awhile... Perin and Paul were married, honeymooned and then decided to move to New Zealand!  Which meant a somewhat spontaneous trip to Atlanta to have a weekend together with my sibs.  It was a lot of fun and good to have time before P&P leave for NZ for a couple years (hopefully I'll get to go visit somewhere in there - them and Middle Earth)

Chef Maddy making Father's day breakfast                                 Lunch with Maddy at camp

Maddy's early lessons in using the Force                                                  now be Lions!
Also had a great gathering (Cotuit in Maine) in June with some old friends which was really nice - good food, good times and hopefully we'll be able to do it again next year.

Jonathan's family reunion was a week in June too and I got to spend the weekend up there and then most of the family came down to Boston for an exciting Red Sox game.

Bob and Oakie                                                          Scrubby, Kim and Q

Bob, me, Jonathan - sporting our gear

CYC went great and Martine and I finished off our 5 year terms in style with many good memories - now I'm looking forward to some time off from camp and doing some other things (like trips to NEW ZEALAND - have I mentioned that idea?)

The Fall has brought new things - house hunting online, driving by potential houses, learning about mortgages, real estate and so much more!  Part of it are super fun, but parts are stressful and frustrating.  With that in mind we're laying low this fall to allow as much time and energy for that process.

Work for me now brings the insanity of the holidays starting primarily with Halloween - though there have already been multiple committee meetings for Halloween and Christmas both.  Halloween involves around 26 trick-or-treat stations, costumes for any child staying in the hospital who needs one and unbelievable amounts of candy and "non-edibles" for kids who can't eat.  It's so much fun, but a heck of a lot of work.

Perin and Paul's wedding weekend

First weekend in January we hauled out to San Francisco for Pering and Paul's wedding which was tons of fun!  IT was great to hang with the family, a great party and we even got to see a smidgeon of San Francisco (and I got to try out the Wii...did ok with bowling, got blown away on tennis)  Here's a few pictures, but there will probably be more at some point.

Maddy as the hulk                                              Josh and Paul playing baseball

exploring Pier 39 in the rain                                                        Alcatrez in the distance

So, stylin'                                Bob talks to Zoltar, not the same request as Tom Hanks, though

"Like Steve McQueen, all I need's a fast machine..."                                  View from our Hotel Room

Action Figures for everything you could imagine!

Now really, whose hair looks better?

Bride and flower girl!

Just some more pictures...

I realized I never officially updated the fact that I got the job I was waiting to hear on early last spring before the trip to Israel.  So here it is, I've been working at the Hospital since mid-April, so almost a year now.  I am loving it!  My unit involves both an inpatient and outpatient population varying from a few days old, to occasionally 45 years old!  The kids have varying diagnosis and some are in and out quickly, others stay awhile or return to us frequently.  The entire outpatient aspect is research studies with kids while the inpatient is both research and general medical hospitalizations.  I work with a great group of staff both on my unit and in the Child Life department (there are 32 of us spread out around the hospital!)

The other highlight of the fall has been watching the Patriots in high-def.  They have had an unbelievable year and now there's just 24 hours left to find out how the season will end.  Tough, though, since I have some affection for the Giants.  My brother has already requested a bet on the game as they're his team so I'll let you know how that comes out, since there will be photographic evidence of whoever loses!

So just a few pictures of life here abouts...

A few days after camp we came home to this...we'd been raided, at home!

Sunrise amidst the foliage from our living room windows....

Brianna and George, Martine's dog only about half grown last spring...

Bob and Brianna at a family Christmas gathering...Anne does take nice pictures, she actually got Bob smiling!

Gratuitous Maddy shots...

Harry with his kitty (one of his first words) and sporting his Mets hat...
